And the Winners Are….
That’s right, the inaugural 2008 Design-a-Dragon contest resulted in a three-way tie! The winners are:
Evan M., a sixth-grader from Simsbury, CT, for his Three-Horned Paleon, a desert species,
Norah M.-L., a third grader from Silver Lake, CA, for her Silver Leaf Dragon, which preys on warthogs and bats and wraps its eggs in stolen animal skins, and
Ella S., a second-grader from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, who not only sent in a model showing her Florella Marvoses with its nest and eggs in its habitat, but provided a detailed natural history account for this migrating species.
All three winners will have their dragons mentioned in the third book in the Hatching Magic series, and will receive an inscribed copy when the book appears.
To see their entries go to the Reader Gallery section of the website.

The sequel to Hatching Magic is now available in a softcover edition from Aladdin Books.
The Dragon of Never-Was has been named a Recommended Book by the Boston Authors Club, and Hatching Magic is up for the Connecticut Nutmeg Readers’ Award. I’m delighted and honored to be keeping the company of authors of some really splendid books.
